Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you live?

Santa Barbara California, about 2 hours north of Los Angeles and about 5 hours south of San Jose California.

Are your Dogs AKC? What testing do you do?

Yes, all the dogs in breeding program are AKC, Purebred miniature dachshunds. They each had to go through DNA and OFA testing before even being added into our breeding program. Reports are available during the adoption process upon request. Each puppy will also have AKC registration, but it will limited. We do not sell full AKC breeding rights.

What is your experience with dogs & breeding animals? What training do you have?

I have 30 years of experience with dogs. Of those 30 years, 20 have been working with AKC purebreds, training puppies, attending local obedience classes with the Perfect Puppy Academy here in Santa Barbara. I also have 10 years’ experience breeding dairy goats, and many litters of kittens here on the ranch. We also have horse, chickens, sheep, pigs and cows on the family farm who given birth throughout the year. As for my personal training to prepare for being a breeder I have taken the breeders bootcamp masters classes with Stephine Major. Also I have a breeder friend in Montana Kristen @ Fleurydachs who has been a mentor in this process, challenging me to strive for excellence.

What is the puppy adoption process for DuPar Dachshunds?

  1. Fill out the waitlist agreement form and wait for an email from me.

  2. Once we have had a phone interview and payment of $300 has been received then you will be placed on the official waitlist.

  3. On the official waitlist you will receive emails and puppy news from our ranch. When your name is at the top of the list you will have your choice of available puppies.

PLEASE NOTE: I will allow you to hold your spot and skip as many litters as needed while you wait for the right pup for you, however after 3 years you will need to place another deposit to continue to hold your spot. I will reserve first and second of each litter for potential breeding dogs for my guardian home program. If you want more information about the guardian program you can read about it and apply under the tab information.

Do your puppies come with a health guarantee?

Yes we have a health guarantee that does require that you see a vet within 5 days of having your puppy home. The details of the health guarantee are available for you to read over before you choose to get a puppy from us.

Do you ship your puppies?

No not at this time. We do have an airport here in Santa Barbara and I would be happy to met you there with your puppy. If you choose to fly with your puppy there will be an additional fee to keep the puppy here until old enough to travel.

Can I come to visit the puppies?

Puppies under 5 weeks are vulnerable to disease and we don’t allow visits until they are at least 5-6 weeks. You will be able to see all the photos and videos and I am happy to do FaceTime as time permits. The puppy selection process will most likely happen over video and with the help of photos but I will consider visits depending on the puppies and what’s happening here at the ranch.

Are you taking more people onto the waitlist at this time?

Feel free to email me see the contact tab to see if we have spaces at this time. Even if you are not ready to join the official waitlist you are always welcome to join the email list!

How much do the puppies cost?

Puppies start at $2,800.00 depending on the dog. $300 is the deposit you put down to be on the waitlist, $500 is due at the selection phase at 4 weeks or whenever selection takes place. The remainder must be paid in full on day of pick up. We take cash, check or Zelle at this time.

When do I take my puppy home?

Puppies go to their new homes at 8 weeks or 9 weeks depending on the puppy, unless other arrangements are made and we will board puppies here for an additional fee.
